Reading Slump? Who’s She?

Updated: 3 days ago

I don’t know about anyone else, but Ms. Reading Slump and I have been close personal frenimes for years now. Just when I think I’m ready to part ways (because really, we’re just not that close anymore and we want different things), I get pulled right back in and find myself physically recoiling from any book.

This most recent slump was a tough one and I really saw no light at the end of the tunnel. Luckily for me though, the combination of these five books helped me on my way to splitting up with good old Ms. Reading Slump.

Maybe they can help you too?

Rhythm & Muse by India Hill Brown

Music, podcasts, friendship, faith, rom-com, gender-bent Cinderella

She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen

Enemies-to-lovers, WLW rom-com, fake dating, sports

Fake Dates & Mooncakes by Sher Lee

Fake dating, family, love, food, cultural heritage, MLM romance

Last Night at the Telegraph Club by

Malinda Lo

1950s San Francisco, WLW romance, community, coming-of-age, fiction

Lightlark by Alex Aster

Romantasy, political intrigue, love triangle, magical realms, curses, deadly game

Each of these books vary in their level of intensity and light-heartedness, but each one was fast-paced and completely immersive. Now, I'm not saying that all of these books, collectively, will end your own slump, but I think reading at least one will do the trick.

Happy Reading!

If you've read any of these or have plans to, l want to hear about it - leave a comment and a like!

On my blog, you'll find reviews and book lists that range from every genre and every age group (mostly - early readers are HARD). The Bookshelf is open to every kind of reader, both new and experienced, and I hope you like it here!

5 Flowers: An amazing read. Little to no flaws (in my eyes at least). Probably a new favorite & will highly recommend.

4 Flowers: Solid read. Really enjoyed the reading experience.

3 Flowers: Enjoyable read, but nothing groundbreaking.

2 Flowers: It was okay. There is potential for a great story, but wasn't fully realized.

1 Flower: I was able to make it to the end of the book, but didn't really enjoy it.

DNF: I was not able to continue on reading the book. It wasn't for me/there was something problematic.
